"If God is with us who is against us!" |
In Progress |
Since John and Clare purchased Sedgwick Park in 2001, much work has been done to transform house and garden to its former splendour.
House
The roof and second floor of the house have been completely renovated. For two years the house was encased in scaffolding whilst the Horsham stone roof was refurbished piece by piece. The second floor rooms which were the original servants' quarters have been carefully transformed to their former glory.
Gardens
The gardens have been gradually brought back to life, using the existing framework of yew hedges and formal lawns. New borders and herbaceous planting have been introduced. Ponds that were formerly dry and full of weeds have been relined and restocked, then sympathetically landscaped with mixed shrubs and ferns.
For this year many of the yew hedges, which have grown out of shape will be undergoing restorative pruning. The vegetable garden, which was created last year, will be replenished with more fruit and vegetables - see the blog for more details. Five chickens have been allowed to roam in the vegetable garden. Beds are now protected with wire netting!
